Recycling & Waste Program

Recycling, Waste & Composting Program

To support environmental sustainability and streamline tenant participation, Media Studios has partnered with our waste hauling and janitorial contractors to implement an integrated recycling and composting program. This program is designed to maximize diversion from landfills while minimizing the need for complex sorting by tenants.

How It Works

Our waste management approach strikes a balance between complete source separation and no recycling, aiming to maximize environmental benefits with minimal disruption.

  • Two Main Waste Streams
The property maintains two primary waste streams:
    • Wet Waste: Includes trash from restrooms and kitchen areas of office suites. This material is disposed of at a landfill.
    • Mixed Recyclables: Includes contents from under-desk bins and designated "Recycling" bins. This waste is delivered to a recycling sorting center where it is separated into categories like paper, cardboard, plastics, and non-recyclable
  • Optional Recycling in Kitchens
If tenants provide and use recycling bins in kitchen areas, the contents are treated as part of the mixed recyclables stream.
  • New: Composting Program
We have introduced a composting option for food scraps and other compostable materials:
    • Clearly labeled compost bins are available in kitchen areas.
    • Compostable items include fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and filters, tea bags, napkins, and other approved organic materials.
    • The janitorial staff will collect compost separately and ensure it is delivered to a certified composting facility.

How You Can Help

  • At Your Desk: Most waste generated at desks is recyclable. Please be mindful to place dry, clean recyclables (e.g., paper, cardboard, bottles) into under-desk or designated recycling bins.
  • In the Kitchen:
    • Place food waste and compostable items in the compost bin.
    • Use the regular kitchen trash container only for non-recyclable, non-compostable waste, especially items contaminated with food residue.
  • Avoid Contamination: Help keep recycling and composting effective by avoiding placing wet or food-soiled items in recycling bins.

By being mindful of where your waste goes, you help Media Studios move closer to its sustainability goals. Thank you for doing your part!
